In my collection of ritual objects and magical tools I happen to have a similar vessel which I acquired at my local Goodwill store. I use it for certain rituals, feeding helpful spirits, and types of alchemical work related to necromancy.

Samhain shenanigans! Lots of ancestor love today! Lighting candles covered in herbs for the dead, sending off ancestor money offerings, giving delicious food and drink, and burning other herbs and incenses are the main points of Samhain for me, though I do continue this season a little bit into November as well. Libations
As a Hellenic polytheist, one of our most important duties to our gods would be to give libations. Libations are liquid offerings to our gods, not only in recognition of them and their importance but as an invitation into our lives for them.
When it comes to giving libations, it can be difficult for those of us practicing and worshipping in secret. So in this post I'll go over typical libations and how they're given, and then some methods I believe would be helpful for those that can't give openly! Please keep in mind that the suggested methods (for those practicing in secret) come from someone who is still navigating and learning her own religion. As always, do your own research where needed and do methods that make you most comfortable in your practices.

Typical Libations
Wine (typically red)
Symbolic of the divine ether, and Zeus's influence on the soul. Additionally, dark red wine represents the blood of Dionysus/Zagreus. We drink his blood as reflectance for his sacrifice by the titans and the eating of his flesh. It represents his metamorphosis, and in turn, our own cycle of birth.
Milk
Representative of Hera and Ira, whose breast milk formed the galaxies and cosmos. Milk also represents the earth.
Honey
Honey is golden which is incredibly symbolic of the gods, particularly their ichor (the blood of the gods). Honey is also a powerful preservative representing the immortality of the gods.
Fine oil (typically olive)
Oil historically symbolizes life, prosperity, and the divine spirit.
Milk and honey together are also a considerable libations but is particularly good for death related gods and the honoring of the dead. Milk and honey libations for them should NOT be consumed.
Giving Libations
To give libations, you would first pick up the offering bowl full of whatever you are giving with your right hand, then hold it with both and recite a dedication. The dedication itself is up to you but the example I saw is as follows:
"We dedicate this libation to khrismôdós Apóllôn and aithǽrios Diónysos and to all the happy, deathless Gods!"
Libations can be made to a singular god or multiple at once. Just ensure you have enough for them equally. Dedications can also be to a singular god or you can name the ones you are dedicating to.
Once you've made your dedication, you'll transfer the bowl to your left hand and pour your offering on the ground or into whatever reservoir you have dedicated to it on your altar. This is your libation, and the offering now belongs to them. Once you've made your libations, you may sip from the remaining contents of the bowl as communion. Before doing so, you may recite a prayer. Here is an example:
"We drink the blood of Diónysos! May the Aithír of Zefs intoxicate our souls and transform us!"
Please be aware that you should NOT drink libations to the dead or to death gods.
When sipping from the remainder of your libations, do NOT sip from the part where you poured. You should drink from the opposite end of the bowl.

Libations in Secret
When you're practicing in secret, this method of libations can be incredibly difficult. So with that, here are a few ways that I think could be helpful!
Can't access or drink wine/milk/honey? Substitute them for water or better yet, flavored juices!
Pomegranate juice can make a good libation for Underworld gods and goddesses, apple juice would be good for Zeus, etc. Research your deity's associations and try working with them. Water is also life-giving and integral to life.
Can't pour your libations outside or in a dedicated offering bowl? Use cups!
Pour your libations directly from the bottle to a cup and sit it on a shelf or desk or wherever you've dedicated to your god. You can recite your prayers and dedications in your head as well.
Worried about wasting drinks? Offer a smaller amount!
Typically what you give should be more than you keep, but your gods understand your struggles and would be understanding of your intentions. Offer a small amount of your drink, honey, etc and inform them of your reasonings and intentions. Your gods love you, they'll be happy with your efforts regardless.
Can't do your libations during the day? Do them at night!
Give your libations while everyone is asleep. You can even hide it under your bed or behind something to keep it for the time you want. (Please be careful of doing this with honey and be mindful of possible insects, pets, pests, spills, etc)
A minor? Do your libations at school!
You can do your libations while at school by making them during a PE class, during lunch, or any period of time where you can take a moment to do so! (I'm not condoning using your bathroom breaks to sneak off and do them, I'm just saying you definitely could do that)

Offering Ideas!
Offerings can be so difficult to keep up with, but here are a few examples of some daily--or even weekly--offering ideas! These can be used for gods, spirits, ancestors, or any entity, really!

What is an Offering?
An offering is generally something that is offered as a religious sacrifice or token of devotion. This could be a physical item, a digital item, or an action.
Non-Physical Offerings
These are often easier to do, if you can remember to do it! Personally I have to have a reminder on my self care app to tell Lugh and The Morrigan "good morning" and "good night" every day. Here are some other non-physical offerings you can do!
Greetings. Just a simple "hello" or some other pleasantry at the beginning and end of each day.
Pray. Either improvise it or use one that you recite regularly. It's a bonus if you created the prayer yourself!
Sing. Again, you could create your own song if you'd like. This also works if you'd like to play an instrument.
Dance.
Recite Poetry.
Exercise. Dedicating your exercise is a great way to incorporate offerings into a more regular routine!
Chat. Sometimes if I feel like I'm not able to do much else, I will try and chat, almost in the way one would speak to an old friend while catching up. I know some folks who make whole discord servers specifically to talk to their deities or spirit pals.
Write a digital note on your phone. This one is simple and easy and you can do it anywhere without worrying about other people overseeing/hearing.
Meditate. Meditating with the sole purpose of it being an action as an offering is a good way to not only help you feel connected, but can help you throughout your day, too!
Physical Offerings
These involve a bit more work, especially if you're trying to make sure your pets or children don't get into them! But if you have a space you can place an offering, even if it's on a countertop or the topmost part of a bookshelf, then here are some things you can do.
Or consider doing a libation instead--where you pour out a drink instead of leave it out!
Drinks. Alcohol is a pretty common offering but can be rather expensive. Try milk, juice, tea, or coffee. Hell, even your favorite energy drink or sparkling water can be an offering!
Food. Set a portion of your meal aside as an offering.
Tending to plants. If you have a dedicated plant (or multiple!) then tending to them can be an offering in an of itself.
Candles or Incense. This one is as old as...well, candles and incense, I suppose! You can also use an LED light for this if needed!
Cleaning. This is especially good if you're doing it as an offering to house spirits. Also good for deities that reign over homemaking and the sort.
Pick up litter. This is a good one if you're trying to get in touch with local nature spirits.

in the late Usamerican death cult, many offered worship despite other overt religious commitments via a ritual experts call "Grilling". An informal canon is beginning to emerge describing the feast days and seasons of the calendar during which "Grilling" was acceptable. Those prepared to participate in the late Usamerican death cult assembled in small gatherings outdoors in private residences or state-owned land; they would then light contained fires to cook forcemeat and small cuts over an open grill. While some suggest this is a ritualistic reenactment of cooking methods that predominated before the electric range, it remained prominent even in households with gas or other ranges, and evidence has emerged that many households maintained both a gas range and a gas grill. The openness of the grill was of sacredotal importance; drippings of fat and myoglobin would both feed and foul the fire, ritually recreating the subordination of the natural world to the thanatos complex. It was rare, sometimes even actively discouraged, for these grills to be cleaned in spite of obvious food safety concerns.
Despite late Usamerican culture's famous fixation on meaningless choices at the point of consumption of material goods, the master of ceremonies was expected and encouraged to impose "correct" gustatory choices on the ritual participants, and in all cases it was taken as granted that the host would choose and openly express strong opinions on the fuel source, acceptable 'brands' and varieties of forcemeat and small cuts, etc. While this ritual complex was similar to a related tradition in late Usamerican culture, the "Dinner Party", key differences include the anticipation of male leadership (possibly suggesting a late evolution of the patriarchial "Grilling" complex against the backdrop of a more matriarchial/matrilocal society), a relatively standardized bill of fare, and in direct contradistinction to the "Dinner Party" complex, the clear expectation of a radically imbalanced nutritional profile favoring fat and protein. It is debated whether alcoholic libations were ever central to the late Usamericans' understanding of "Grilling"; yet it is certain that even for female participants, where drinking did take place, beer and neat spirits were favored, and wines and mixed beverages were regarded as inappropriate.
"Grilling" is a subject on which voluminous scholarship exists, and this survey is necessarily too brief to contain research done on several aspects and sub-complexes in the late Usamerican death cult, including the predominance of plastic and plastic-coated utensils and servingware regarded as single-use, the loose canon of acceptable and unacceptable forcemeats, the emergence, exoticization, and decline of the "Shish Kebab", and the layers of ironic subtext in "Grilling"-dominated late Usamerican works like King of the Hill or Twitter. Strange as it might seem to us, "Grilling" tied late Usamerican men together in casual yet firm homosocial bonds (while both reflecting and reaffirming existing dominance-submission relationships) almost as efficiently as men throughout history have typically achieved by simply fucking nasty

can i read your thesis i wanna know about how mesopotamians kept their loved ones close. i feel like there might be something about roots or foundations or grounding, connecting the family to the home & people to place both physically and metaphorically. gravesites are powerful powerful place connections and im really curious about what we know about a culture whose gravesites and homes were one and the same. i imagine they were pretty comfortable with death
so it's not online yet because i want to publish it first in a journal BUT i can tell you a bit about it. this is gonna be specifically about the old babylonian period (19-15th centuries BCE) because that's what my thesis is on, but with some changes it's pretty much applicable throughout mesopotamian history
so the basic thought behind burial under the houses is that the dead don't cease to part of the family. ancestor cult is an important aspect of mesopotamian culture and domestic religion. the netherworld is not a nice place, it's dark and dusty and all the spirits have for food is dust. but if you feed your ancestors (this is a ritual called the kispum which consists of food offering, libation and the calling of their names. it's a regular ritual that some sources say was done monthly, and others say it was during the yearly festival of the dead in the month of the god dumuzi/tammuz) then they'll have things to eat and drink in the afterlife! and if you are a spirit, the more descendants you have, the more your well-being is ensured! it's a symbiotic relationship. if your ancestors are satisified, they can help you out with things and act as sort of benevolent protective spirits over the household and the family, and also welcome you in the netherworld when you die. but spirits who were not properly buried or aren't given the proper offerings can wander, come back to haunt you and cause harm. if you would like to know more about this, i recommend dina katz's book, the image of the netherworld in the sumerian sources, an amazing read. the point is, the dead are part of the family, they have their metaphorical place in the family structure and a physical place in the home
people in the notes mentioned that moving probably was difficult. and it definitely was. some of the people buried in these houses were in underground tombs, built from burnt clay bricks, and some others were just in graves dug into the earthen floor, all around the houses. now these brick tombs are often found completely empty, no skeletons, nothing. which means that the family took them when they moved away. probably because they were in some way the most important ancestors, maybe the main lineage of the family? this part is not really clear because these bones are missing, they took them, we don't know anything about them. however, in ur, there are two examples of just the skull being buried and i think that means that family moved to this house from somewhere else and brought the skulls of their ancestors along and re-buried them. it's a very rare find though
from an anthropological perspective, the phyisical proximity of the graves in the same place where the living slept, ate, worked, raised children, etc, was a kind of constant reminder. of their shared ancestors, of their shared identitiy as a family and as a larger clan or kinship group. from a psychological point of view, it was a strategy of coping with grief
important to note also, that this was not practiced by every family. there are houses with no graves at all or just one or two graves, certainly not the whole household. this means that most likely there existed also cemeteries, burial grounds outside the cities. to my knowledge, no cemetary like this has been found yet. but it would be insanely interesting to see what they were like and how the people buried there were different from the people buried in the houses at the same time!
in the end, let me give you a quote from the myth of erra and išum (translated by karel van der toorn in the book mesopotamian magic). this is what a man says about his house:
"These are my living quarters, I have personally made them and will have my peace within them, and when fate has carried me off, I will sleep therein."

There's levels to ancestral connection, and you shouldn't skip any of them.
Take this as your reminder to first of all, spend time with your spirits, without expecting anything in return. Heavy on that last part. You don't make and maintain a genuine connection with someone just by showing up to their doorstep every time you need something from them. Treat them as people because they are. Your people. You should care for them as much as they care for you.
Be it ancestors (specifically direct blood lineage or adoptive family, any deceased human relative) or ancestral spirits (in general, that is, all ancestral allies and hereditary connections not just your ancestors). Just make time to hang out. Walk up to their space, a cup of your favorite drink in hand, give them their preferred drink and just chat. Don't ask anything in return. If you have an altar for them, do that. But it can be just going to visit their graves and giving libations and flowers, and telling them how your life's going, sharing memories together, remembrance, or just to listen. It can also be going to the beach or a river, and same thing, pour a drink and talk to them, and listen back. It can be your plant allies, while you're watering them, or putting eggshells or honey or sugar water or other good nutrients and fertilizers on their soil. It can be visiting your ancestors in dreams, and spending time with them there. There's so many ways to do this.
The second level to this is letting them sit in your body too. Listen. Become familiar with how they make you feel. With the signs of their arrival and presence. With the signs they communicate with and what they mean to you. With how they let you know they have a message, or that they're in for a visit. And let them in. Dance to your grandma's favorite beats. Sing your grandpa's favorite songs. Make a family recipe and share a meal with them, enjoy it for them and with them.
Ancestral reverence isn't just the big rituals and they're not the most important aspect of it, it is the everyday coexistence, in your little but constant everyday ways.
Do as you do but also as they did. You're an extension of them and they're an extension of you. They not only walk with you, you carry them within you.
Honor that.

Synopsis: Azriel has a crush that's overtaking his life. He's so obsessed with her that he starts hallucinating her lol.

Azriel sat and watched, thanked the Mother for all his training for the privilege it allowed him to take her in. Hell—if all the knowledge he possessed peaked and surrendered to this, the holy act of observing her, if this was all it was good for, Azriel would be content. He even felt lighter about the horrors of his past, felt an absolved ease knowing it all would end with this act of penitence. An arm’s-length indulgence.   
With her.
But she was starlight, an ectoplasmic celestial body that glowed. She smiled so big and bright it made his breath catch. He’d have to look away sometimes to relieve the ache she carved into his chest.  
If she shone any less, it would be an act of mercy.
But Azriel had always veered on the side of masochism.
He was afraid his darkness would make her wink out. Didn’t want to be the cause of her dimming. Would never dream of contaminating that joy. Even when she’d smile at him, even when he’d struggle to return it, left instead with the sight of hers faltering at his coldness.
He could stand the shame sluicing through his chest cavity, take the sting of hurt all for the assurance he’d insist to himself—that this was the noble thing.
Everyone adored her, and it was what she deserved. The foul-mouthed temptress she was, making males redden at the dirty jokes she told, laughing bright and beautiful. The empathy she dealt like medicine that drew friends to her like a siren luring sailors. Secret keeper. Rhys doted on her, bought her jewelry to watch her face light up. Azriel never missed how his brother’s face would crinkle with adoration, with the ease of loving her when she opened his stream of gifts.
She was easy to love.
It was like she was slotted just right to each person.
He often wondered how she would mould to him should he ever open up, to return her generous smiles that had begun growing seldom.
She was soft with Feyre, creative and adventurous. Often found up to various artistic schemes no one else understood, discussing motifs and strokes, tragedy and yearning. Gone for hours to emerge with bright eyes and paint smears.
She cried to Cassian, and it was an effort to reign in Azriel’s envy, to listen to the drowning voice of reason telling him to be glad she was being comforted rather than to rage at his thieving brother as he’d stroke away her tears with gentler hands than those dealt to him in his life. She’d lie next to Nesta on her heavier days. Read to her, talk about foreshadowing and hope that made Nesta’s eyes light up.
It was always light brought to others. Her contagious aura.
And damn him, it was like his youth all over again, watching his brothers care for Mor, watching how she fit seamlessly.
How she chose Cassian. Never him. How she cried to Rhys, never him.
It seemed Azriel would always be haunted by the ghosts of his past.
And damn him for still possessing that otherness that punctured holes in his chest then, the same holes now that made it impossible to heave in a full breath, to sleep soundly. An undead soldier. It’d been weeks of this incessant torment. His heart would palpitate til his body perceived a threat. No sleep in the night—thoughts of her haunted him, taunting—so he’d pace like a lingering spirit.
He could see her always.
In the dark quiet of the house, there’d be a flash of silk around corners. Someone tossing hair over a shoulder. The echo of a laugh in another hallway. He’d creep to it, try to spy it out only to be met with empty corners.
Yet there in his peripherals, at the ends of hallways in the dark—
Again and again—glimpses.
His ghost.
His bed had become a grave, no peace found in it to rest. No food for the dead, only scraps—libations offered into the fire that was his belly. In the fleeting moments of rest, oftentimes in armchairs in all the wrong rooms, he’d meet her. She glowed even there, that phantom halo that marked a ghost. A beacon of light to his shadowy storm. She’d hold his hands and love him. And when he’d fade back to consciousness, in the early morning hours, if he sat still long enough, he knew he would hear her murmurs echoing down the halls.
Azriel wanted with all his might, wanted like it was his purpose.
Wanted like it could possibly mean something. Do something.
Wanting was all Azriel knew.
Beneath his shadows, beneath the contained lethal capacity of his body, any semblance of sanity, beneath ancient bone and immortal rot, he wondered if his soul was made purely of desire.
It made sense then, he supposed, that if he was wanting at his basest self, he would dream about nothing more than to have the unattainable. A ghost.
A wish.
It was impossible to eat. Sleeplessness stole his appetite. He consumed coffee in the morning and drank on an empty stomach in the evening. Nesta saw—she knew, pressing fruit and bread in his hand sometimes, but mostly she was quiet, which Azriel thanked her for in equal silence.
Tell her, Az, she whispered once. He’d shaken his head, and that was that.
Sometimes when everyone was home, he could pretend like it didn’t exist, the pull to her. He’d try to relax in his flesh and participate in having a family, but then she’d walk into the room, having just come home from somewhere Azriel knew every detail about.
The effort to not stare, to not care nor assess, to calm his heart, his mind—the shift out of the state of pretended calmness to an even worse pretence of calmness—the stream of thoughts that would pummel his brain would jolt so violently, the wanting was so violent that Feyre would flinch.
He couldn’t stand it—the lying. He knew everyone was doing it. Pretending they didn’t see what haunted him. At the first damned prod of a dark talon at his mind, Azriel stood, leaving. Ignoring how she peered at him with a pinch between her brows, stepping out of the path.
Azriel exhaled, watched his breath curl in the cool night air. Closed his eyes in exasperation as he heard footsteps approaching on the balcony. Whatever wise words Rhys may attempt to offer could be shoved up—
“Azriel,” Feyre spoke gently.
He turned, taking in his High Lady. “Feyre, I don’t really—”
“Az,” she cut him off, “I—don’t mean to pry. But you’re not—” she exhaled. “I know you haven’t been eating, and Rhys says—”
“It’s fine, Feyre,” he said softly. It was his own fault for not reigning in his thoughts. He wondered how much more he’d been broadcasting in his state, made clumsy by restlessness. If Feyre knew of the glimpses he trailed after at night—the ghost chasing.
She frowned, concern swimming in her eyes. Insomnia can cause hallucinations, she spoke gently into his mind.
Azriel scoffed. “I’m not hallucinating.”
Feyre stepped closer, caressing his elbow. “You know, if you’d just talk to her—”
“I can’t.”
She paused for a beat. “I can help put you to sleep, if you want.”
He just shook his head. Feyre accepted his boundary, leaving him to linger in his purgatory. He stayed, breathing in the cold until things quieted in the house.
Re-entering the emptied lounge, he sat, meeting wakefulness like a reluctant ally. His shadows curled at his cold ears. In her room, they informed. Saying goodnight.
Azriel listened to the sounds of his family settling in. He closed his eyes, envisioned how she might look, if she was perhaps brushing her hair, how she might look in the dim glow of a faelight. Settled and safe. Or—even better, he imagined her coming down, seeking him out. How lovely she’d look descending the stairs. If he focused hard enough, he could make out the sound—
Azriel opened his eyes, awaiting the gentle creak of wood.
His heart skipped a beat. Was she indeed coming to him?
He rose, quietly making his way to the stairs, wanting to see her descend to him.
Her steps were growing closer, and Azriel peered up the darkened stairwell—
She must’ve turned around, but Azriel caught the glow of an aura at the top, around the corner.
He made his way up, listening with all his might.
There—the rustle of silk. He sent his shadows ahead in the dark, not wanting to frighten her.
Clear, they whispered. He stalked down the hall, turning corners, walking past the low chatter behind various bedroom doors. He was nearly at the end of the hall when—
At her door, a shadow curled at his ear. Azriel frowned, if she was at her door, how could she—
A soft feminine laugh made him turn. Nothing, but he was sure—
There was that silk again, trailing around a corner.
Azriel blinked, making his way over. She was looking for him, he was certain.
More pacing around the darkened halls, trying to catch sight of that silk again.
Azriel.
He froze.
She’d called him.
A few walls over, he could recognize that voice. He whipped his head in the direction, creeping over.
Nothing.
Azriel.
There—again, he turned the other direction, blindly following.
Azriel.
He walked faster, his shadows swarming all around his body and up the walls, trying to catch his name.
Azriel.
Azriel.
“Azriel?”
He jolted, turning to the source.
Y/N stood in her doorway directly to his side, making him halt in his tracking. She took in the agitated churning of his shadows, burying him in darkness.
She was—there she was.
Azriel took a step toward her. She’d called him.
“Y/N,” he breathed.
She looked up at him wide-eyed. “Are you—alright?”
He assessed her. She—how could she be here so quickly, if he’d seen—
He looked around the hall, trying to make it make sense. He frowned, turning back to her. She was partially behind the threshold of the door, apprehension tensing her form under his scrutiny, the restlessness marking darkness beneath his eyes.
He was making her nervous.
Azriel immediately reigned in his shadows, relaxing his stance to a neutral posture rather than his previous mid-prowl stride, tucking his hands behind his back.
“I’m sorry,” he spoke gently. “I thought I…did I wake you?”
She shook her head, stepping more fully in the doorway, making Azriel relax. “No, I—your shadows were under my door, and when I came to them, I could hear…someone wandering outside.”
Azriel blinked. “I’m sorry,” he repeated. “I didn’t mean to disturb you.”
She bit her lip, assessing him. “It’s alright. Why were you pacing?”
“I, uh—I couldn’t sleep.”
She nodded. “I heard Rhys tell Feyre you’ve been having trouble sleeping,” she said quietly.
Azriel’s shoulders slumped, his head dipped in confirmation.
She nodded again in thought, peering up at him again with that wonder. Azriel should’ve taken Feyre up on her offer, should’ve known better. He should apologize again and stop bothering her— “Would you, um, like to come in?”
Azriel’s breath caught.
She shifted her weight. “If—if you can’t sleep, I mean—I’m awake, and—”
“Yes,” he said.
Surprise lit up her eyes despite her offer, and she nodded and stepped aside to let him in.
Azriel’s heart was in his throat. His sleep-deprived state blurred the edges of his reserve, but he allowed himself to take the opportunity.
In her room, he took in the warm space. She closed the door behind him and came to stand beside him. She was indeed in a nightgown, hair unbound, glowing as usual. He averted his gaze when she blushed beneath his stare.
“Sorry,” he muttered. “I haven’t had much rest lately.”
“That’s okay,” she said, stepping closer. “I know, I—usually I can hear you pacing at night,” she confessed. He hadn’t realized he’d been that overt. She beckoned him to walk to her bed, perching at the end of it. She smiled, gently patting the space next to her.
Azriel swallowed, making his way to her.
She looked to her bed and back at the Spymaster. “I, uh—you do look tired, Azriel.”
“Do I?” he was pleasantly surprised to find contentment in her space—in her presence. The longest he’d ever spoken to her, and it turned out to be easier than breathing.
“Mhm,” she nodded, taking him in. She raised a hand to his face, tracing the bruises beneath his eyes with gentle fingertips. “Poor thing,” she breathed, frowning. “I know how hard it can be to have insomnia.”
She lowered her hand, clasping them in her lap. She looked to the pillows again, then back to him. Azriel resisted the upward tug of his lips, seeing how long it would take her to invite him to sleep.
How careless did sleeplessness make him, indeed.
He simply nodded. “It is hard.”
“It helps if you feel someone,” she spoke softly, blushing. “I sometimes sleep with one of the girls.”
Azriel hummed in thought.
“Or—you know, we can get you a sleeping tonic.”
“We could try that.”
She suddenly averted his gaze, crossing her arms across her abdomen. In a small voice, she said, “I know you don’t—like me, Azriel, but—”
He frowned. “I do like you,” he interjected.
She paused, meeting his gaze. “You do?” The vulnerability swimming in her eyes made him shift closer to her on the bed.
“I do.” He thanked the Mother for the inhibition of his judgement.
She was silent for a beat. “But—you leave the rooms I enter,” she said in that small voice.
Azriel’s heart broke. He dared to reach a hand out, gently taking hers. “It’s—it’s because I like you,” he said lowly.
Her mouth parted in an o shape, and she squeezed his hand, a small smile overtaking her lovely face.
“You were my ghost,” he muttered.
Confusion drew her brows together. “What?”
Azriel smiled, a laziness creeping up his body that he’d missed for weeks. “I’ll explain it in the morning.”
Her brows shot up, pink tinting her cheeks. “In the morning?” Another glance to the bed.
Azriel laughed. “Unless you want to hear it now.”
She smiled, tentative and sweet, shaking her head. “The morning will do.” She rose, taking his hands in both of hers, prompting him to rise. He held her stare, let her pull him to the head of her bed. She tugged back the covers, sliding under and patting the space next to her again.
Azriel toed off his shoes, took off his outermost layers, placing his belt and various assets onto her dresser. She pulled her knees to her chest, watching intently as he offloaded in her space, basking in the belonging.
When he at last slid beneath the cover, he lay on his back next to her. She reached for his hand beneath the covers, clasping it. Without saying a word, he squeezed her hand. He felt the tension seep out of his body, felt heaviness in his eyelids that matched the one in his chest. She shuffled closer to him so they lay shoulder to shoulder. He didn’t dare move, let her settle against his arm, still only holding his hand under the covers.
As rest crept up on him for the first time in weeks, his restless thoughts were calmed by the warmth of her presence, the kindness he allowed himself to finally taste.
“You know,” she muttered in the dark. “With all your pacing, I was beginning to wonder if this place was haunted.”
Azriel huffed out a laugh. “Imagine that.”
He could hear the smile on her lips. “Guess it was just our sneaky Shadowsinger.”
Azriel shook his head, smiling. “Guess so.”
She turned, placing a gentle kiss on his cheek. “Goodnight Azriel.”
“Goodnight, Y/N.”

In honour of the playtest of Hades 2 an Ate I did in the style of the game!

"(She) that blindeth all—a power fraught with bane; delicate are her feet, for it is not upon the ground that she fareth, but she walketh over the heads of men, bringing men to harm, and this one or that she ensnareth."
In the Argonautica, Hera says that "even the gods are sometimes visited by Ate".
Ate is the greek goddess of mischief, delusion, ruin, and blind folly, rash action and reckless impulse who led men down the path of ruin. She was considered the personification of ruin. According to Hesiod (Theog. 230), a daughter of Eris, and according to Homer (Il. xix. 91) of Zeus.
I personally made her like Eris, and like her grandmother Nyx, with soooome details of Zeus.
Ate appears in a story in the Iliad, where it is told how she came to be thrown out of Olympus, and never permitted to return. Zeus held Ate to blame for blinding him to Hera's trickery which resulted in the loss of the birthright Zeus intended for his son Heracles: to be lord over the Argives. As punishment, an enraged Zeus:
"seized Ate by her bright-tressed head, wroth in his soul, and sware a mighty oath that never again unto Olympus and the starry heaven should Ate come, she that blindeth all. So said he, and whirling her in his hand flung her from the starry heaven, and quickly she came to the tilled fields of men. At thought of her would he ever groan, whenso he beheld his dear son in unseemly travail beneath Eurystheus' tasks."
Homer, Iliad 9. 498 ff :
"The very immortals can be moved; their virtue and honour and strength are greater than ours are, and yet with sacrifices and offerings for endearment, with libations and with savour men turn back even the immortals in supplication, when any man does wrong and transgresses. For there are also the Litai (Litae, Prayers), the daughters of great Zeus, and they are lame of their feet, and wrinkled, and cast their eyes sidelong, who toil on their way left far behind by the spirit of Ruin (Ate): but she, Ate (Ruin), is strong and sound on her feet, and therefore far outruns all Litai (Prayers), and wins into every country to force men astray; and the Litai (Prayers) follow as healers after her. If a man venerates these daughters of Zeus as they draw near, such a man they bring great advantage, and hear his entreaty; but if a man shall deny them, and stubbornly with a harsh word refuse, they go to Zeus, son of Kronos, in supplication that Ate (Ruin) may over take this man, that he be hurt, and punished."

Clandestine traffic circle All Saints Day meeting went pretty well, considering the weather.

We brought libations for Saint Joan and other crossroads spirits. Mostly round and/or French things.
I made soul cakes, because A. they're a traditional All Saints Day treat B. they are round, like traffic circle and C. they have a cross, to represent the crossroads.
As payment for posting this photo of @upthewitchypunx's back I am contractually obligated to let you know that in New Orleans, where they also have a copy of this statue, they call her Joanie on the Pony.

How to Connect with Nature
Now you may have heard this phrase of “in order to connect with nature spirits first you need to be in nature.” Or something similar which is true but they don’t tell you how or the etiquette of spirits of the land. It’s more than just walking or sitting in a park it can most definitely help get to know the place but in order to really understand and bind with these spirits is to really communicate with them which is key.
First go to a local park, your backyard, local forest, wherever you’re closer to. Even a pot plant in your home will do. My favorite spirit to connect with trees and know the moss wives and wood spirites. Go to any plant or tree you’re feel drawn to. Just sit and feel the plant gently, if it’s a tree put your hand and use your intuition and it’s okay if you’re not feeling any energy this is the point. You’re trying to connect drawing in the energy and sharing yours, write down whatever comes to mind even if it’s wrong and exercise to get comfortable with your intuition and senses. Feel what that plant is feeling, is this tree masculine or feminine, is it happy or sad, what color are you relating this tree or plant in your minds eye. What are you feeling right now? Does this plant want you to be in its presence, communication with you? You may not know the answer right away but it’s essential to really get to know.
After you write down your answers in your phone or notebook, take any divination tool Tarot, Pendulums, Runes, Automatic writing, etc. and clarify what the plant or tree spirit is saying to you. There is nothing wrong with using divination before you connect with its energy if it helps you lot more. Think of connecting with the spirit as a handshake a mutual acquaintance and understanding what each others intent. Some spirits will talk to you immediately, some be hesitant especially if it’s area that has been mistreated by humans at times you can feel the hurt and sadness that spirit will release.
Once I held a broken branch from a tree that came from a forest area that was so mistreated and vandalized by humans that holding the branch almost made me cry as I felt it’s pain but also happiness that someone came along and was willing to help them and the forest. If you make your intentions known and why you’re connecting with them is important for them to know. You can leave offerings for the spirit just along its environmentally safe for it. Put fruits, crystals, coffee grounds to promote growing of vegetation, veggies, libations of water or tea. It’s best to research what foods are safe to be place in the wild in case any animal comes across it, for instance salted roasted peanuts can be harmful for Squirrels google your food items just to be sure! 
Now Asking For Permission
Now humans have tendency of taking without asking especially from things that cannot verbally consent or least they think they can get away with it because trees aren’t talking to them. It’s common courtesy to ask if you can take a leaf or berry or flower from a stem or tree because it shows you’re taking care of their feelings. The best way to do this is to take a branch you feel drawn to or a random one for practice, hold it in your hands and focus on the broken branch even when a branch is broken it’s still connected to the tree spirit. Ask out loud if you can take this branch with permission from the tree spirit, you may hear a voice in your head telepathically, a feeling of an answer. If you feel strongly the spirit is telling you should or shouldn’t then so be it you have an answer. By asking permission not only your connection is becoming stronger but all the nature spirits and guardians of that area sees that you’re honoring and being very respectful of the forest they will become very happy and comfortable more and more of you when doing so. Again if you’re not too sure on intuition there is nothing wrong of taking out your handy divination tool for clarification.
After Thoughts
I hope this was helpful for some people, I'm sorry this took awhile since I was trying to find the right approach of talking about this. It's hard to explain at times of connecting with spirits its all base on your intuition really and I know there's some people have a hard time with trusting with intuition but it's essential in paganism and witchcraft, yes even though your intuition isn't strong currently with time and practice of developing intuition it will become stronger and stronger.
I will also say meditation is also important and energy work, to feel and recognize certain energies is important when connecting with local spirits and nature spirits. I truly hope this blog is able to help people and understand it's not so complicated.

On September 10th we venerate Elevated Ancestor, Voodoo Queen of Louisiana, & Saint, Marie Catherine Laveau on her 222nd birthday 🎉

Marie Catherine Laveau was a dedicated Hoodoo, healer, herbalist, & midwife who, "traveled the streets [of New Orleans] like she owned them", as the most infamous Voodoo Queen of New Orleans.
Marie C. Laveau I was born a "Free Mulatto" in today's French Quarter in what was then, New France); to a mother & grandmother who were both born into slavery & later freed via freedom papers. It is believed that she grew up in the St. Ann Street cottage of her maternal grandmother.
She married Jacques Santiago-Paris, a "Quadroon" "Free Man of Color", who fled as a refugee from Saint-Domingue, Haiti from the Haitian Revolution in the former French colony . After his passing, she became known as "The Widow Paris". She then worked as a hairdresser catering to White families & later entered a domestic partnership with a French nobleman his death. She excelled at obtaining inside information on her wealthy patrons by instilling fear in their servants whom she either paid or cured of mysterious ailments. Although she never abandoned her Catholic roots, she became increasingly interested in her mother’s African traditional beliefs. The Widow Paris learned her craft from a ‘Voodoo doctor’ known variously as Doctor John or John Bayou.
Marie C. Laveau I is said to have intiated into Voodoo career sometime in the 1820s. She's believed to be descended from a long line of Voodoo Priestesses, all bearing her same name. She was also a lifelong devout Catholic. It didn’t take long before Marie C. Laveau I dominated New Orleans Voodoo culture & society before claiming title of Queen. She was the 3rd Voodoo Queen of NOLA - after Queen Sanité Dédé & Queen Marie Salopé. During her decades tenure, she was the premier beacon of hope and service to customers seeking private consultations - to aid in matters such as family disputes, health, finances, etc, created/sold gris gris, perforemed exorcisms. While her daughter Marie II was known for her more theatrical displays of public events, Marie C. Laveau I was less flamboyant in her persona. She conducted her work in 3 primary locations throughout the city: her home on St. Ann Street, Congo Square, & at Lake Pontchartrain. Despite one account of a challenge to her authority in 1850, Marie C. Laveau I maintained her leadership & influence.
The Queen died peacefully in her sleep in her ole cottage home on St. Ann Street. Her funeral was conducted according to the rite of the Catholic Church & in the absence of any Voodoo rites. To her Voodoo followers, she's venerated as a Folk Saint. In² addition to her Priesthood in Voodoo and title of Queen, she is also remembered for her community activism; visiting prisoners, providing lessons to women of the community, & doing ritual work for those in need.
She is generally believed to have been buried in plot 347, the Glapion family crypt in Saint Louis Cemetery No. 1, New Orleans. As of March 1st, 2015, there is no longer public access to St. Louis Cemetery No. 1. Entry with a tour guide is required due to continued vandalism & tomb raiding.
We pour libations & give her💐 today as we celebrate her for her love for & service to the people, through poverty, misfortune, bondage, & beyond.
